Tips on how to Create Freemium from Periscope
Creating freemium to help launch your new website or business is a great way to extend your reach and grow your community. Freemium is a free series of videos, blog posts, or printables, to entice new subscribers to join your email list and get to know you. Creating an email list is a great way to promote your paid products, and to build a relationship with your community. Those that join your list are people who want to connect with you for life, and freemium is great way for them to get to know you quickly so they don’t miss out on the rest of your products or events.
Teaching video series
I think the best version of freemium is a video series, usually teaching videos or tutorials. People want to know about the real you, and teaching them about something you already know is a great way to use your skills and share your personality. Picking a topic can be a little tricky. I feel it’s strongest to teach about how you faced a challenge. This will help people going through the same things and get to know you are the same time.
Think about a struggle you dealt with and how you handled getting through it. Make a list of five to seven tips and some details about how you’d get those tips across to someone else. Each tip will become a short video where you can explain your story and how that tip helped you through your struggle or challenge.
Using Periscope
Periscope is a great social media tool where people make live videos. This format is also a great way for you to test your tips and get feedback from your followers. I suggest you choose a tip and write down some notes to cover in your live broadcast. In Periscope people will ask questions and will mention things that you thought were obvious. This information will give you insight into what you need to cover in your final video and what people are curious about surrounding your situation.
Video structure
Each video will cover one tip related to dealing with your personal challenge. The video should be five minutes in length or less, and include an introduction, your story, and a call to action. The introduction should be quick and cover who you are, what you’re an expert at, and give you credibility for the reason why you’re speaking about your topic. Remember that you’re already an expert because you lived through your situation and your experience is going to help others.
When you end your videos make sure you circle back to your call to action and help people hold themselves accountable to using your tips in their lives. Giving homework will help enforce your tip and will show people a practical way to use your advice in their situation. Giving homework will also give you an opportunity to ask them to comment on your site, which will help grow your community.
