Put down the knife, and pick up a fork… it might be time to transition on to a plant based diet.
The debate continues…. the more research I read and the more experts I interview, the MORE I understand the importance of a plant based diet. Specifically in the last few weeks, I have dramatically decreased my consumption of animal proteins. My goal is to eat whole, unprocessed food that hits all the colors of the rainbow. The focus is Micronutrient dense food that fuels my body on a cellular level.
My recently interviewed Dr. Dan Witkowski. He is a plant based medical doctor that started incorporating diet and nutrition into his practice when he realized 10 years into his practice that his patients weren’t getting better with conventional means and medication.
I know that this interview will leave you feeling inspired to put down the knife, and pick up the fork.
Dr. Dan breaks down:
- What does plant based really mean?
- Is plant based the same as vegan or vegetarian?
- What is a whole food, plant based diet?
- How to free yourself of food labels
- Why restriction isn’t sustainable
- Should we avoid grains and gluten?
- Why we need to get away from labeling foods as “good” and “bad”
- What do you eat on a plant based diet?
- How to get your family to make this transition with you
- Can you get into Ketosis on a plant based diet?
And so much more!
This is a really eye-opening approach to a plant based diet, and a great one to dive deeper into.

We have been on the transition of meat replacement for a year now. It has been great we are eating far better our kids actually prefer it. We only eat meat very rarely its a treat and the portions are tiny. But the less we eat we have found when we do have that small morsel of meat protein that it’s harder to digest.
It’s been a journey.

I love that you are delving into the plant based lifestyle! After reading How Not To Die and watching Forks Over Knives, I became very interested in living without animal products and have been successful as a whole. After six months I did lab work and was pleasantly surprised by how my numbers had dropped. They weren’t bad to begin with, but now they are GREAT! By adopting a plant based diet and doing PIYO, I have lost about 15 pounds, my clothes fit better and I feel great. I can’t help but tell people about it! Most aren’t interested, but I have planted the seed of interest. 🙂

My husband cut out about 95% of his meat consumption several months ago and the sinus issues that he has had his whole life are gone! In the last 14 years of marriage I have not been able to wear perfume or spray anything scented in the house without his sinuses flaring up for the remainder of the day. Since he quit eating meat, this is no longer an issue. Definitely worth the change!

Hello Chalene! We have been a plant based family for over a year now and see great changes in our health. We also have made this change because we love animals and don’t want to eat them! we have so many other options in this day and age. I wanted to try your 131 approach but is it compatibl e with a plant based diet?
thank you!
Chalene says
Yes we have many options for vegetarians and those following plant based diets with phase it up by 131 method! Thanks for asking! 🙂
