What is success to you?
In order to find success you first need to know what that means to you. Success can be applied to any area of your life, from your environment to work, family, and even personal achievement. What comes to mind when you think of success, or even just hear the word success? These ideas are important because this is what you think you want for your own life. It could be a promotion at work, a larger house, or beginning a family. Whatever it is, that’s your starting point to finding success, but there’s another piece to this puzzle and that’s what success feels like.
How do you want to feel?
Most of the time when we think of success we think of what I call visual success. This is what we see in others that we consider success. I used to think it was a big house with several cars in the garage, people maintaining things like my lawn and cleaning my house. But when I got there I realized it didn’t feel much like success. I thought it would feel peaceful having people take care of everything but it was actually stressful. Bret and I hit a breaking point and started to reconstruct our life. We didn’t care if we were going to be making less money, we just wanted our lives to changed and to start revolving around what we wanted to feel. We got a point where the fancy cars and big house didn’t mean anything, because we were miserable. Through this process, Bret and I realized that how we pulled ourselves out of this situation, could be taught to others. Most of us continue to live a life that is focused on trying to accomplish what society tells you your supposed to accomplish. But what if you truly lived for YOU! Bret and I figured out the systems that should be put in place to get your life going in the right direction, and its called SMART Success. It’s a program we built to help you create your life by design. To give you the tools to start going in the direction YOU want to go and to stop living on someone else agenda!
After I realized that the success I was experiencing, was not what I wanted from my life, I actually started paying attention to how I felt when I found success in my own life. Success to me is making it to the dinner table to catch up with my kids, reaching milestones I set for myself in my business, and connecting with people I care about. This isn’t the type of success I’m used to seeing on television but it feels good to me and that’s the important part.
How do you want to feel in terms of success? I came up with a short list of feelings I wanted to feel and tried to structure my goals for myself around them. It’s important to list how you want to feel and how you don’t want to feel. Sometimes it’s easier to start with the feelings you don’t want and working up from there.
Goal setting
Finding success starts with a personal definition, works into how you want to feel on your journey, and is pushed even further with goal setting. Once you finish the first two, the third will just fall into place. If you want to increase your productivity at work and want to feel important but peaceful, you will work hard in the office but also try to relax at home. If you set your goals with your definition and your feelings in mind, you will find success and be happy along the way. Of course there will be bumps and it won’t all be happy and enjoyable, but most of it will be.
Setting goals for your life should fall in line with your values in terms of success and overall feelings. If you’re setting goals because it seems like that’s what everyone is doing and you’re trying to achieve what it seems everyone else is achieving, but aren’t thinking about yourself and how you feel, you’ll end up getting what they have but not being happy in the end.

Success to me is the feeling of FREEDOM. Not feeling the strain of bills, budgeting, declining dinner invites, or even social visits because of the cost of gas. Love everything you have to offer Chalene ?
