Me: My main agenda in the seemingly infinite world of social media is almost too simple.
You: Really, though?
Yes! But let’s talk about YOU first (notice how she builds anticipation!).
Are you trying to get your day-to-day on track? I’m guessing… YES. I mean, who isn’t?! One day it looks as if things are finally going along smoothly and then distraction rudely intercepts!
Whatever the cause…
- Child’s fever.
- New demand at the office.
- Mother-in-law arrives unannounced (again).
- Impossible tooth ache.
- Old injury flare up
- True-crime Podcast releases and you’re addicted and nothing, I MEAN NOTHING, will get in the way of you finishing the whole series NOW. #relatable
This out-of-the-blue distraction might be the area of your life that has you feeling disconnected. Or not.
Perhaps it’s something bigger…
- Business is failing.
- Love life is devoid of love.
- Haven’t worked out in years.
- Terminal illness has struck a BFF.
- Home was robbed.
- Most recent anti depressant isn’t doing the trick.
Now, let me tell you, if you’re trying to get your life right, the 1st thing you have to understand is that each of these things – no matter how big or small – are related. There’s no such thing as a single life compartment.
The Titanic didn’t sink because one water compartment flooded. It sank because water rushed into the others, as well.
PREACH ALERT: If there’s ONE area in your life amiss, it affects all the other areas.
When, at such time, I knock one of these hurdles off my “Diversion List” – I’m talking about it. Because HOW I did that is worth sharing. THAT would be something you want to know.
BOTTOM LINE: The question I’m constantly asking myself is,
Is this something that’s helped me get my life right?
If the answer is YES, I’m telling you. Out loud. In writing. Wherever and however it can get the most reach. Without regard to date / time / month / or my brand.
I talk to you in Social Media the same way I would talk to my friends.
That’s my ONE agenda. I don’t call up my friends and go, “What promotion do I have coming up next?” GROSS.
Listen, we have to show up every day and participate in all of these areas – from fitness to business to spirituality – at once. That’s life, isn’t it?
Don’t let these so-called obstacles block your greatness. For me, they’re all blessings in disguise. They teach us how to overcome and get better. Then, if you’re living on purpose, you’re paying that lesson forward.
I’d be honored if you shared in the comments what major hurdle you overcame! Give us just a taste as to HOW you did that. Imagine, then, how you might go into greater detail to build your base in social media.
