Let’s get more organized, productive and HAPPY in 2017! Shall we? Face it, no matter how much you accomplish, if you feel like your life is out of control, it’s so much harder to feel happy. Watch this video where I take you through the step-by-step process for simplifying goal setting and accomplishing more in the next 90 days than most people do all year.
This is an exercise I go through in great detail with those of you who pre-ordered my SmartLife PUSH Journals (we have a very small amount of our premiere editions left – click here now to get yours). But don’t worry – even if you don’t have the journal you can still follow these steps…so get ready because this is about to completely change how you set goals this year.
Here’s a quick overview, so you have my notes in writing, but make sure you watch the video to follow along.
Step 1: Rank your level of satisfaction in the 10 Key Areas of Life.
Rank each of the following areas on a scale of 1-10. 1 being the worst it could be, 10 the best it could be. Remember, these numbers are yours and signify how YOU feel in about that area.
1. Physical Health (how you feel about your body, overall physical health, sleep)
2. Mental Well being (how you are able to cope)
3. Environment (where you spend most of your time – your home, office, car, etc.)
4. Hobbies / Joy / Restoration (things you do for pure joy)
5. Romance (how you feel you are doing in your love life)
6. Friends & Family (your kids and any friends or family outside of your romantic relationship that are worth your time)
7. Finances (how you feel about your current financial situation)
8. Purpose or Career (your career or the things you do to fulfill your purpose)
9. Spirituality (how connected you feel to a higher power or your own spirituality)
10. Personal Development (growth, being better)
Step 2: Identify Your Key Priority.
List the area you personally scored the lowest. You may have scored more than one area with the same score; however, you need to choose the one that is currently having the biggest negative impact on your happiness; an area you currently have the ability to change. This will be your current priority for the next 90 days.
Step 3: Set 10 Crazy Cool Goals.
Next, you set 10 goals with your key priority in mind – goals that do not have a negative impact on your key priority. I recommend that you make your first 3 goals ones that will have a positive impact on your current Key Priority. The rest of your goals should address other Key Areas of Life. These are 90 Day Goals you will tackle in 30 days chunks.
Part 2 of the goal setting process is assessing each of your 10 goals and figuring out what you need more of in order to achieve it. Most goals require more time, money, skills, or discipline.
Step 4: Set a PUSH Goal.
Here’s the game changer – your PUSH Goal! You will now create an 11th goal that helps make all of the others possible. This is a goal that helps you create more of what you need (time, discipline, money or skills) to accomplish the 10 on your list.
Step 5: Take Inventory.
Determine what you need to do more of or less of in the next 90 days in order to make your PUSH Goal happen.
Step 6: Brainstorm.
Brainstorm every single bite-size task you can think of to accomplish your PUSH Goal. Break all tasks down into 10-20 minute tasks.
Step 7: Set Up Accountability & Make it a Habit.
Use your daily trackers in your PUSH Journal or create an accountability system to make sure you are completing at least 2-3 of your 10-20 minute tasks each day. Important things to keep track of daily include: your PUSH Goal to-do list, your other random to-do’s, what you’re grateful for, your schedule, your diet, exercise, water intake, and sleep.
It’s that easy! All it takes is a system and the accountability you need to make it a habit. Can you imagine how much happier and more present everyone would be if we all just took 5 minutes to stop scrolling on social media and take a look at our lives? I’m confident if you complete this process every 30 days, you will increase your level of happiness and satisfaction across the board!

I’m anxiously awaiting delivery, thanks you Chalene! Question….is this also a planner or do I need to use this in conjunction with one? (my current planner is Passion Planner)
Chalene Johnson says
It is also a planner! Yay!!! 🙂

Excellent tool. I too hated writing some things down in a planner but using the app for other daily tasks, etc.
