We all have fears. Every single person is afraid of something. Most of us are terrified of many things. But these fears, these anxieties can be blessings. When we overcome that which gives us anxiety, we prove our strength. Because facing fears build character
We weren’t meant to live in fear
But we’re human and we’re susceptible to anxiety both real and imagined. Most times we are nervous about things that might happen in the future. We are afraid of that which we can’t control.
By exposing yourself to that which you fear, generally you’ll become more comfortable with it and the fear will dissipate. The energy you spent sustaining that anxiety can now be spent on something productive!
Many people are afraid of speaking in public. What’s the best way to overcome that fear? Speaking in public. To prepare, join a group such as Toastmasters and familiarize yourself with strategies to engage your audience. Then, you’re just going to have to do it. It will be scary the first time. But each time after that, it will get a little easier.
Don’t let your fears dictate your life
Consider your phobias and anxieties and tackle them now! Most of us can do so by exposure. Participate in the activity and it loses its power. If your fear is so great that you think you need help to overcome it, join a support group or find a counselor. There is no reason to let fear limit your life. Your mind is capable of changing and the meaning you attach to your anxiety can be decreased. You were meant to live fully and happily. Stand up to fear today!
