We all have those days when we lose our mojo or don’t really feel good about ourselves. Maybe you’ve had a bad day, or you just can’t seem to find the motivation you need to do the things that deep down you really want to do. It happens to the best of us! But what’s important is that you don’t let a slip turn into a slide.
You’ve got to pick yourself up and keep shuffling your feet toward the bigger picture. Sometimes, even if you don’t feel good on the inside initially, certain actions help you start to believe it. Next time you find yourself in a little slump, try these simple things to help you feel good about yourself and trick your mind into thinking positive again.
Feel Good About Yourself
Wake Up and Workout
Wake up and lace up! Those who exercise early find that they have more creativity, drive, ambition, energy, patience, confidence, and an overall improved self-image. Your very best habits are repeated at the same times, often in the same places, and with routine and repetition. Just decide that each day you wake up and lace up. You might not be a morning person, but the habit of waking early to exercise will benefit you in all areas of your life.
Get Dressed
We all sport the “crappy sweatpants, messy ponytail, no makeup look” from time to time, but doing this too often can be detrimental to your motivation. Even if nobody’s home and you’re not going to see anyone, when you look like crap, you usually feel like crap, too. When you get up, make an effort to get dressed each day (after your workout of course). When you feel good in what you’re wearing, and you like the way you look, you feel good about yourself, work harder, and have more energy, too.
Make a Pick-Me-Up Playlist
When I need some motivation, I have a special playlist I turn to that always gets me going again. It’s a list of my favorite songs that totally pump me up. I know you have those songs, too – the ones that you can’t help but feel good when you listen to them. Think of those songs, and make yourself a pick-me-up playlist. The next time you need to get out of a rut, put on your playlist and go.
When you act as if you feel good, your mind will follow. Taking small steps like these each day, and making them a habit, helps you feel your best every day. When you feel good about yourself, you treat the people around you better, and it affects all parts of your life.

I definitely need to work on the dressing the part piece. I’ve been doing better – getting rid of a lot of old too big clothes in favor of clothes in my new size – and that is helping!

I have been so pleased with the workouts in the ChaLean Extreme. I’ve been working really hard, and already seeing some changes, in these last 6 weeks. ChaLean, you’re really motivating!! Thank you, I look forward to my workouts w/ you and the gang and will likely purchase more Chalene Johnson workouts in the future 🙂

My fave tip is the pick-me-up playlist. Music has such a strong effect on my mood, even if its just shaking my bum as I’m doing dishes (that’s more fun than it sounds btw!) the right song can keep a bad mood from becoming a bad day. 🙂
