Setting Business Goals that scare you
In order to move forward with your business you have to push the boundaries, and this means doing things that scare you. When you first started your business the idea of running your own company or being your own boss was probably scary, but you worked through it. Now it’s time to evaluate some areas that may scare you and set goals to work through them.
Investing in something
You have to invest in your business in order to move forward, and this means directly putting money into your business but also making purchases or doing things that will help you build your brand. Business tools and resources that may be on the boarder of scary could include attending a seminar or conference, building a website, or finally purchasing that iPhone your company needs. What do you need to make money? It’s time to take the step and invest in something that will help you grow your brand from a website, new computer, or attending a seminar.
Committing to something that will push you forward
If you have to choose only one activity to make money with your business, what would it be? This activity makes a big difference for you and your business, and you need to be putting time into it. An example could be video teaching, making videos that teach the audience something. I tend to get a lot of traffic with this so I set a goal for myself of spending one hour per day on video teaching. You should set a goal similar to this so you will always be putting effort into the biggest activity you have going for you.
Giving up something
You’re running your own business, chances are you’re doing something that takes up way too much time and isn’t helping the business very much. For me that was editing my own videos. I thought I was the only one who knew what I wanted, so I spent hours editing. I realized I could delegate this to someone else who had more experience, could do it more quickly than I could, and could actually get the details I wanted. You don’t have to give up this task completely but evaluate how much time you’re spending, on social media for example, and see where you can cut back or delegate.
Setting a finance goal
Setting a monetary goal can be scary because you might not reach it, but setting a goal gives you the push you need to at least try and attain it. This finance goal should be big enough that you’re shy about sharing the amount with others, but not too large that you know you won’t reach it. It’s a personal goal you set for yourself so write it down and see how you do.
Meeting like-minded people
Meeting people can be scary, but talking with other business people can be just what you need to get new ideas, solidify those ideas you have, and implement things you’ve been waiting on. Get a small group of people together or join a group and share your goals with them. This will be a place of support and accountability and may be the push you needed to reach the next level with your brand.
